Mason Lauritson, only 24 years old, lives his life by working, riding dirtbikes, camping and fixing up his first house with fiance Aimee. He is a great person with a big heart. On January 14th 2010 his life, as well as his family and friends lives, changed. He was taken to Inland Valley for extreme headaches. Come to find out he has a mass in his third vetricle blocking the fluid from draining from his brain. Which we were told was a cyst. The doctor told us we would have lost him that night had he not gone to the emergency room because he had so much fluid built up it was pushing his brain down onto his spine. He had an emergency shunt put in to release the fluid that night. On January 19th they put a permanent shunt in place and few days later he was released thinking everything was fine.
We then do another MRI, but find out it is a tumor instead of a cyst. It is a binign tumor so that was a little relief but the surgery he needs has very high risks. The doctor told us 2-3% percent chance of not making it and an even higher risk of coming out of surgery like a vegetable.
Mason thought the year 2010 would be a great year. He had just bought his first house and got his new dirtbike all fixed up ready to go but as of now, we do not know when he will be able to ride again, if at all.
